ITT HiFi4060 Tuner > Audacity 2.0 via C-Media CMI8738/C3DX soundcard > 44100hz/16bit flac's (level 8) > webtorrenting
Then, the additional lineage:
TLH > Guitar Tracks Pro 3.0 > SB X-FI Platinum > Sony Sound Forge 8.0 > Magix Audio Cleaning Lab > TLH > FLAC
The remaster:
About 19 minutes of DJ banter ( yes, some music too, because the DJ talks over it), intros and other talking was removed from the original recording. 2 or 3 very brief sections of DJ banter remain.
25 seconds of clean, uninterupted applause was taken from 2 other sources, overdubbed and carefully added to the original with cross fading ( slow in/slow out ). Using Sony Sound Forge 8.0, I blended the channels slighty and raised the volume a little.I noticed some brief dropouts on the original, some were lost in editing but I made no effort to fix the others. I resisted changing the pitch of the recording, even though I think Roger's voice sounds a bit "off ", it must have been the water in Lucca, but my knob twirling, while creating very interesting versions of this concert, yielded no fulfilling results, other than making Roger sound even more feminine and "mousy". Maybe next time I should turn the knobs the other way....
This ( hopefully ) creates a more comfortable recording to listen to, rather than have the intrusion of the DJ ( a woman who clearly enjoys the sound of her own voice, even more than Roger ! ). The clean applause was taken from concerts on the NAB / NAV lists, but as far as I know, only the artist performances themselves are banned. Besides this controversy, I freely choose to be the only one harmed by the secret of knowing which shows they are. I can only say this; one of the recordings is from my own master ( CA-11 cards > DR-2d ), the clapping is mostly the sound made by my own hands, the same hands which are giving you 19 minutes of your life every time you hear the remaster.......
Later, after completing a Pink Floyd SBD/AUD Quad Surround Sound "matrix" from 1977, I will share a seperate recording containing the 19 minutes extant, a glorious example of overindulgence which I will dedicate to RAI DJ's & executives, liars and bullshit artists worldwide !!

I am a relatively new Dream Theater fan (about 3 years) even though I'm going to turn 62 in a month. A friend of mine and I decided that as a bucket list item that we would try to see Dream Theater and pull out all the stops. In December this tour was announced and I get in on the pre-sale and get 2 Platinum VIP tickets to the Chicago show and then we wait for April 30th.
The day arrives and we do it up big with expensive hotel, reservations at Morton's Steakhouse (maybe we should have gone to Gibson's) and then the meet & greet with the band. The meet & greet doesn't start until 5pm so we have time to kill and decide to take the Chicago Theater tour at noon. It's interesting and then the tour guide takes the small group into the theater proper. At that point I lose interest in the tour and now I'm focused on the band's stage crew setting up for tonight's show. I take 30 photos or so (included here). They are nearly done and are testing lights and running white noise through the PA and testing the sub-woofers. Fun times!
Showtime arrives and we do the meet & greet (my first) and it was fun. The band was gracious and everyone was nice. Security, though, was tigjht with regards to cameras and recorders. When in line to go into the theater for the meet & greet they tell us we will be wanded as we go in, but lucky me the guy with the wand wasn't too diligent and missed me altogether. He gave my buddy a half-hearted wanding and we were in. After the meet & greet we could leave the theater and come back for the show, but I opted to stay as I didn't want to risk being wanded again. It all worked out fine.
The show was recorded from the 2nd row, 5 seats from the center on the left right in front of John Myung. I stuck the recorder in my shirt pocket and let 'er rip. There are some downsides to being that close when recording. The keyboards were lost at times or at low volume. I would imagine being back would have helped. Sometimes the guitar didn't seem loud enough either, but being up close to watch the band is quite incredible. I think the recording came out good. A lot clapping and some crowd noise in the expected spots.
I've included a folder of photos from that day. The stage set up ones aren't the best as my zoom wasn't that good. The meet & greet ones were not taken by me, but by Zippy, the meet & greet coordinator. I hijacked them to give you an idea of what the meet & greet was like in Chicago.

Fantastic show in Belgium. Due to the reports of the new metal detectors in Belgium, I was hesitant to tape. But I did in the end, without the pre-amp (got the M10 with some luck). Axl sounded great and the band was in excellent shape too.
Not my best recording but enjoyable none the less. A few small glitches during Sin City, I accidentaly switched on the hi sensivity option of the mics.

Recording Notes:
Snuck in my rather medium sized Tascam, was 4th in outside line, which the venue was complete GA,
so ended up front row, on the rail left of center…3-5 feet from Maynard for the rest of the night.
I’ve let a few listen and have been told its one of the best live recordings they’d ever heard.
I ended up pushing the Tascam down the inside of my jacket sleeve, all thawed down to my wrist about midway thru Agostina, to where its actual two mics were poised at Maynard all night, no security lined up in front of rail; ..as per every other show I’ve attended in life…. those of us the landed front , had nothing but raw Puscifer. And a hell of a recording!

I first saw Mark Knopfler in 2005. The year after, I went to see Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris together with a friend from my hometown. On our way down to the show in Oslo I told him about the On Every Planet recording, and said I would love to find out one day if that really was from Oslo. My friend became pretty quite, and then he said he was quite sure he recorded that show in Oslo in 1992 with Dire Straits. When we got back from the MK & EH show in Oslo, which I also recorded, it didn´t take my friend long to find the old cassette. So, here is the confirmation that On Every Planet, actually is from Oslo 1992. Enjoy it. The sound is not that good, but the recording includes Money For Nothing which is not on the On Every Planet recording.
